Appointed Group Chief Executive Officer in 2019, Karl joined Genesis in 2018 with 30 years aviation industry experience, as Chief Commercial & Investment Officer.
Prior to joining Genesis, Karl was the Chief Operating Officer at AWAS, where he spent 11 years building AWAS into a $15bn global aircraft leasing business.
Karl started his aviation career in 1990 as an apprentice in the Maintenance Repair & Overhaul sector with a GPA Joint Venture company, Shannon Aerospace. In 1998, Karl became a founding member of low-cost airline Virgin Express with a fleet of 25 aircraft serving major European cities. In 2002 Karl joined the newly formed RBS Aviation Capital, where he held various technical, pricing and marketing roles and led RBS Aviation Capitals engine leasing and finance business.
Karl received a first-class honours MBA from the University of Limerick, a Dip. Mechanical Engineering from Galway Institute of Technology and an ICAO & EASA aircraft maintenance engineers licence.
Adam Smyth is the Chief Financial Officer at Genesis. He is responsible for finance, treasury, corporate accounting, taxation and financial planning of the business. Adam Smyth is a founding member of Genesis and has over 13 years’ experience in the finance industry.
While at Genesis, Adam has been responsible for the development of the long-term investment strategy of the business and building the tools required to accurately underwrite and value the business and specific transactions. Adam has also been responsible for the design and management of the investment governance across Genesis and accurately reporting on Genesis’ investments. Prior to joining Genesis Adam was an auditor at Ernst and Young.
Adam holds a degree in Economics and Financial Mathematics from University College Dublin and is a Chartered Accountant. Adam has completed Level 3 CFA exam and received a Diploma in Aviation Leasing and Finance from the Law Society of Ireland.
Anna Reimers is the Chief Legal Officer at Genesis. Anna leads the legal and contracts management team for the full Genesis portfolio aircraft. Anna was Genesis’s legal counsel since 2014, before joining the company in 2017.
Prior to joining Genesis, Anna worked in practice with McGuireWoods. Anna has over 20 years’ experience in the legal aviation sector, focusing on acquisition, disposition, leasing and management of aircraft portfolios.
Anna holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina and received her JD. from the University of Denver College of Law.
Mary O’Brien is Senior Contracts Manager at Genesis. Mary manages each of the Genesis aircraft lease contracts and the lease management system. Mary joined Genesis in 2017.
Prior to joining Genesis, Mary held various legal and contract roles within the aircraft leasing industry with ILFC, AerCap and Lobo Leasing.
Mary holds a B.A. Business from the University of Limerick, Train the Trainer FETAC Level 6 in NUI and completed a Diploma in Legal Studies and Practice in Griffith College Dublin.
Pat Madigan is SVP Commercial at Genesis. Pat joined Genesis in 2018 and leads the commercial team with responsibility for global airline sales activities, remarketing and origination of aircraft. With over 26 years’ experience in the aviation industry, Pat most recently spent 12 years as VP Sales & Marketing with Shannon Engine Support (SES), the leasing arm of CFM International originating engine lease transactions with airlines globally.
Prior to SES Pat worked for Aerotech Aviation Services, a bespoke aviation services company specializing in supporting aircraft lessors with aircraft surveillance, lease transition management, heavy maintenance project management and technical services support. Pat also worked for two start-up airlines Virgin Express Ireland, and Skynet Airlines Ireland. During this time, Pat was involved in all aspects of the airline engineering and continuous airworthiness management activity plus management of the aircraft lease deliveries and redeliveries with various aircraft lessors.
Pat began his career as an aircraft maintenance engineer at Shannon Aerospace; a joint venture of GPA, Lufthansa and Swissair. Pat holds a first class honours degree in business studies from the University of Limerick and is an EASA certified aircraft maintenance engineer.
Peter O’Byrne is Vice President Commercial at Genesis. Peter is responsible for Genesis’ European and Americas customers and markets. Peter’s role includes the origination of aircraft for acquisitions, portfolio remarketing and aircraft divestments. Peter joined Genesis in 2018.
Peter has over 12 years’ experience in aircraft leasing. Prior to joining Genesis, Peter held various technical and trading roles at CIT Aerospace, AWAS and Sky leasing.
Peter holds a bachelor of aeronautical engineering from the University of Limerick and a Masters in investment, treasury and banking from Dublin City University.
Mark Hegarty is Vice President Commercial at Genesis. Mark is responsible for Genesis’ European and Asian customers and markets. Mark's role includes the origination of aircraft for acquisitions, portfolio remarketing and aircraft divestments. Mark joined Genesis in 2020.
Mark has over 18 years’ experience in military aviation and consulting. Prior to joining Genesis, Mark held various operations, planning and programme management roles in the Irish military and was a founding member of Karman Aviation leasing consultants. He has flown a range of fixed wing military aircraft.
Mark holds a bachelor of arts in accounting and finance from Dublin Business School, an MBA in aviation management from the University of Limerick. Mark alsoholds an EASA Airline Transport Pilots Licence.
Owen Croucher is Vice President of Commercial at Genesis. Owen is responsible for Genesis’ EMEA and CIS customers and markets. Owen’s role includes the origination of aircraft for acquisition, portfolio remarketing and aircraft divestments. Owen joined Genesis in 2020.
Owen has worked in aviation finance since 2013. Prior to joining Genesis, Owen held various roles in airline remarketing, pricing and finance within Aergo Capital and Standard Chartered Bank.
Owen holds a bachelor of arts in law and accounting from the University of Limerick and completed his ACCA examinations in 2017.
Aidan Cleary is the Head of Technical and Asset Management at Genesis. Aidan leads the technical team and is responsible for mitigating technical risk across the fleet, managing the portfolio aircraft return and the delivery process with our customers. Aidan has over 22 years’ experience in the airline and aircraft leasing industry.
Prior to joining Genesis in 2018, Aidan worked at AWAS and later in DAE in technical leadership roles. Aidan started his career at Ryanair as a line maintenance engineer. Prior to joining AWAS, Aidan was the chief operating officer at Santos Dumont where he actively managed aircraft transitions and traded aircraft on behalf of investors.
Aidan holds an EASA B1 and B2 Aircraft Engineers Licence.
David Curran is the Vice President Power Plant at Genesis and manages all of the power plant activities across the Genesis fleet. David joined Genesis in 2018 and has over 14 years’ experience across the airline, engine maintenance and aircraft leasing industries.
David holds a first class honours degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Limerick
Robert Murphy is a Technical Asset Manager at Genesis and is responsible for managing aircraft transitions and deliveries in support of our airline customers. Robert joined Genesis in 2018.
Robert previously worked at Aer Lingus where he held roles in maintenance and as a technical representative for the airline. Robert holds an EASA B2 Aircraft Maintenance Licence.
Susan Cotter is the Vice President Risk at Genesis. Susan leads the risk management function and is responsible for the development and evolution of Genesis risk management systems including airline credit analysis. Susan joined Genesis in 2018.
Prior to joining Genesis, Susan held the role of Senior Risk Manager at Apollo Aviation Group, now Carlyle Aviation Partners.
Susan holds a masters of science in finance from UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School and a bachelor of science in finance from University College Cork.
Michael Fox is part of the risk team at Genesis. Michael supports the team in conducting financial and credit risk analysis of airlines, jurisdictions and portfolios. Prior to this, Michael worked as part of the commercial team where he supported the remarketing and trading activities at Genesis. Michael joined Genesis in 2019.
John Kelly is a Senior FP&A Manager at Genesis. John is responsible for company valuations, financial forecasting and cash reporting.
Prior to joining Genesis John worked in Miagen, building forecasting platforms for several aircraft lessors, and as a finance consultant with Deloitte.
John is a chartered accountant and holds a bachelor of science in finance from Northeastern University Boston and a bachelor of arts in international business from Dublin City University.
Jonathan Struthers is a Pricing Senior Manager at Genesis. Jonathan is responsible for transaction analysis and the pricing model development and governance. Jonathan joined Genesis in 2018.
Jonathan has over 9 years' aircraft leasing experience across various transaction analysis and technical roles at AWAS & DAE.
Jonathan holds a bachelor of aeronautical engineering from the University of Limerick.
Bridget Corry is part of the pricing team at Genesis. Prior to this, Bridget worked as part of the commercial team where she supported the remarketing and trading activities at Genesis. Bridget joined Genesis in 2018.
Bridget holds a bachelor of aerospace engineering from the Queen’s University of Belfast and a bachelor of engineering in aircraft systems from the Institute of Technology Carlow.
Clara Dalton is Executive Personal Assistant at Genesis,joining the business in 2018.
Prior to joining Genesis Clara worked in senior account management and administrative roles across multiple sectors.
Clara has a marketing, sales, advertising and PR diploma from Dublin Business School, a digital marketing diploma from Shaw Academy and has a background in performing arts.
Peter Edwards is a Senior Accounting Manager at Genesis. Peter manages the preparation, review and presentation of financial results for the Genesis aircraft portfolios. Peter joined Genesis in 2015.
Prior to joining Genesis, Peter was an assistant manager at Ernst and Young.
Peter holds a master of accountancy from University College Dublin and is a qualified chartered accountant.
Steve Russell is a Senior Accounting Manager at Genesis. Steve manages the preparation, review and presentation of financial results for the Genesis aircraft portfolio companies. Steve joined Genesis in 2018.
Prior to joining Genesis Steve worked in the financial and risk sectors with US Bank , Bank of Ireland and RBC Capital Markets.
Steve is a chartered accountant and completed his training contract with PWC. He holds a bachelor of science in engineering and management from Trinity College Dublin. Steve also holds the Professional Risk Manager (PRM) certification.
Gavin Burke is a Financial Accountant at Genesis. Gavin manages the preparation, review and presentation of financial results for the Genesis aircraft portfolios. Gavin joined Genesis in 2020.
Prior to joining Genesis, Gavin was a senior associate at KPMG.
Gavin holdings a bachelor of arts in accounting and finance from Dublin City University, a master of science in accounting from Dublin City University and is a qualified chartered accountant.
Rosemary Palmer is an Accounts Assistant at Genesis. Rosemary manages the invoicing and receivables of fleet utilisation and rental invoices for each of our customers across the Genesis portfolio companies. Rosemary joined Genesis in 2014.
Prior to joining Genesis, Rosemary previously worked in an accountancy practice for over six years and worked at Volito Aviation Services.
Rosemary studied as a nurse and gained her nursing qualification from Thames Valley University, London and has recently gained her accounting technicians.
Caroline McCarthy is a Senior Accounts Assistant at Genesis. Caroline manages the invoicing and receivables of fleet utilisation and rental invoices for each of our customers across the Genesis portfolio companies. Caroline assists with month end accounts processing for GFL. Caroline joined Genesis in 2015.
Prior to joining Genesis, Caroline worked in PGI a software communications company.
Caroline holds a bachelor of accounting degree from Cork Institute of Technology and is currently a finalist in achieving ACCA professional qualification.
Elaine Lewis is an Accounts Assistant at Genesis. Elaine manages the payable function of finance across the Genesis portfolio and assists in day to day management. Elaine joined Genesis in 2018.
Prior to joining Genesis, Elaine held various roles in the pharmaceutical industry.
Elaine holds a bachelor of business in accounting and finance from the Institute of Technology Tallaght. Elaine is currently working towards her ACCA professional qualification.
Karen Gaffney is HR Consultant to Genesis. Karen leads the Human Resources function at Genesis and is responsible for overseeing and developing Genesis’ people strategy, talent management and development, and HR operations. Karen has over 15 years’ HR experience in the aviation and aircraft leasing industry and joined Genesis in 2019.
Prior to joining Genesis, Karen was HR Manager for Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (formerly AWAS) for over 11 years. Karen had full HR responsibility for driving and executing the HR strategy relating to a number of key customer facing functions across multiple locations. Karen’s role also involved responsibility for a number of key strategic HR projects, supporting the business in executing its strategy. Prior to AWAS, Karen was Senior HR Specialist for SR Technics (formerly FLS Aerospace) for over five years. Karen started her career in Ibec
Karen holds a BA in business and sociology from Trinity College, The University of Dublin and a certificate in personnel practice from National College of Ireland. Karen is an accredited member of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development).
